About Us


About the Wisconsin Geographic Alliance

The Wisconsin Geographic Alliance is an organization of educators and citizens committed to the enhancement of geographic education in Wisconsin schools. WIGA works to facilitate geographic literacy in all content areas, providing Wisconsin educators with varied opportunities for professional development as well as materials and networking support to enhance the teaching and learning of geographic skills and concepts.

The Wisconsin Geographic Alliance has a cadre of trained teacher consultants. If you are already a WIGA teacher consultant, indicate this on your registration form. We welcome all local educators interested in geography education. If you are not already a WIGA teacher consultant, select "Interested Educator" on the registration form. Teacher Consultant: A WIGA teacher consultant (TC) is a teacher who has successfully completed a Wisconsin Geographic Alliance institute that included "Binko" in-service presentation training and has successfully conducted in-service workshops or conference presentations during the school year following the institute.

Interested Educator: Teachers, administrators, and other persons and organizations that are interested in improving, supporting, and promoting geography education.
